Orpheus Singers has been facing a number of issues in the last 12 months including the difficulties caused by Covid-19 and the unexpected and devastatingly sad death of our Chairman, Norman Cave. Challenges posed in achieving a suitable vocal balance and replenishing the establishment of the choir’s management committee have exacerbated the situation and made the choir’s future unsustainable.
After much discussion and taking everything into consideration, we regrettably cannot see a viable future for the choir, and with a heavy heart, the decision has been taken to close Orpheus Singers with immediate effect.
As you can imagine this has been a difficult decision and was not taken lightly. We would like to thank all those who have supported Orpheus Singers over the past 27 years – singers, conductors, accompanists, committee members, Friends and audience members, without whose loyal and appreciative support we could not have survived and flourished.
